Ash Wednesday Masses
This Wednesday, February 22, is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. Its not a Holy Day of Obligation, but you should still come out for Mass.

Mass Times: 6:30am, 12:15pm, 5:30pm, 7:00pm

Fasting and Abstinence: All Catholics age 14 and older should abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and Fridays during Lent. All Catholics aged 18-59 should fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. On days of fasting, two small meals are permitted to maintain strength, however, these meals should not equal a full meal.

Homework: From now on, students will have a weekly homework assignment. This will be a brief assignment that needs to be turned in the following week. It shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes if students paid attention in class.

Credo There is CREDO this Sunday, February 26. Fr. David will be talking about Locked Out. What could that mean? It's a "Love" night, so you know it will contain some sort of spiritual aspect of music, meditation, prayer.... I guarantee you will learn more about yourself and your faith this weekend.

Spring Retreat 2012 Spring Retreat 2012 is coming! Be sure you save the weekend of March 16-18, because you're going to want to be at Bethany House with us! Base cost is $120 per person. You should be there!

Service: Mission Trip to Greensburg, PA in 2012! We will be attending a Service Camp in Greensburg, Pennsylvania from June 17-23 through Catholic Heart Workcamp. We are attending what they have designated a Next Level camp, which combines the service part of work camp with retreat-like experiences, including daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, daily Rosary, Youth Group Sharing Time, and Reconciliation.

There are still spots available, but due to the time, cost has gone up to $330. Please get your commitment form and $75 deposit in as soon as possible!

Winter Weather Policy In the event of inclement weather, cancellation information will be posted on the Youth Office phone (429-8467) by 2:00pm for EDGE and 4:00pm for CREDO and Confirmation. We will also post the cancellation at the top of this page of the website and try to send out a blast to the e-newsletter list for each group.

About Us The EDGE is for students in 7th and 8th grade, and serves as both religious education and fellowship for our middle school students. EDGE follows a two-year curriculum, with one year being focused on Sacred Scripture and the other year focused on Tradition and Belief. EDGE meets on Sunday afternoons from 3:30-5:00.

St. Andrew Credo's goal is for high schoolers to better Know, Serve, Love, and Celebrate our Lord, Jesus Christ. Each month will feature all four of these characteristics of youth faith formation, using the guidelines put out by the USCCB and following the format supplied by Life Teen International. Credo meets on Sunday nights from 6:30-8:45.

The St. Andrew Confirmation Preparation Program begins in the 9th grade and meets every-other-Sunday for about 15 months. Weeks that Confirmation Prep meets, meetings will take place from 6:30-8:45.

In addition to this, we offer regular service opportunities, two high school retreats each year, and more!

	Pope Benedict XVI Pope Benedict XVI (B16) was elected pope at the age of 79. He is from Bavaria, Germany. He is the oldest person to have been elected pope since Clement XII in 1730. He served longer as a cardinal before being elected pope than any pope.
	Bishop Earl Boyea Born in Pontiac, Michigan, Bishop Earl Boyea was the first of ten children. Attended Sacred Heart Seminary, the North American College, and the Gregorian University in Rome. Ordained a priest on May 20, 1978. Appointed fifth bishop of Lansing, Feb. 27, 2008, installed April 29, 2008.
	Father William J. Stevenson Fr. Will was raised in Lansing, Michigan. He holds degrees from Michigan State University, Indiana University, and St. John Provincial Seminary. He was assigned as Pastor of Saint Andrew in Saline in 1997.
	Father David Rosenberg Father David Rosenberg grew up in Galesberg, Illinois. He was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Lansing in June 2011, and began his assignment to St. Andrew's that July.
